Hello and welcome to our new Introduction To Data Protection and Privacy in Kenya Course. My name is Christine Ajulu and I will guide you through this course.
In 2019, the Government of Kenya passed the Data Protection Act 2019 also known as the (“the DPA, or /the Act,”) into law. Following that enactment, the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC ) was set up to serve as a regulatory and implementing body of the law.
This course has, therefore been designed to help public service officials, civil society organaizations and private sector professionals across Kenya understand the DPA act, key data protection and privacy concepts and how they can effectively apply and engrain them in their day-to-day work.
This course will be delivered online through recorded lectures. During the next five weeks, we shall delve into these key topics:
