Open County Initiative Comprises?

1) The Open County Portal

(www.opencounty.org) is a set of dashboards that: 

1. Are developed to guide county management teams to manage development results more effectively
2. Provides a platform for engaging citizens (by updating them on County performance and receive their feedback).
3. Is also a component of the Maarifa Centre which is currently hosted by the CoG.

2) County Data Desk

A data desk is envisaged to be a (both offline and online) platform through which users, both within the County Administration and Citizens in general, can obtain relevant and actionable data about the county. Such data may include, spatial data, population, sectoral performance, policy targets, budgets, business services and public services. 

Main challenge presently is: Inability to continuously update, collate and compile county-related datasets because of lack of capacity. This includes compiling citizens feedback and data requests.

3) Citizen Engagement Component

1. Involves integration of OC Platform with Participatory Budgeting for effective citizen engagement
2. Linking of the OC platform with maps as generated by the PB mapping team so as to incorporate project sites (and key indicators) into the OC platform.

4) Integration of county websites with the Open County Portal

1. Entails working closely with the ICT team (or their vendors) to ensure that county websites display key information and data as contained on the OC platform. 
2. Build the required capacity (as needed) within the County for regular updates 
3. Work with the Data Desk at the CoG to update the OC Platform
