Introduction
This introductory course has been developed to support and provide knowledge to public officers, civil society organizations and National Statistical officers to understand the concept of Open Data Ecosystems and how to establish and sustain effective open data initiatives that drive transparency, innovation, and civic engagement in their respective contexts.
This course was developed and jointly organised by the Africa Information Highway, the World Bank DEC Global Institute and the Open Institute (Kenya)

Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of the course, participants are expected to learn the following:

Gain a thorough understanding of the components, significance, and benefits of open data ecosystems.

Identify and engage key stakeholders effectively, fostering collaboration and partnerships.

Understand effective data collection, management, and dissemination best practices.

Understand the legal and ethical frameworks governing open data, ensuring responsible data practices.

Create and implement strategies for sustaining open data initiatives long-term, while evaluating the impact of their open data initiatives and adopt practices for ongoing enhancement
Instructional Design
This is a self-paced course and it contains pre-recorded lectures and notes. Additionally, there is a glossary of resources that have been provided including national and global case studies.
